Hi! I'm will have in 2 weeks a brand new Dbl Cab 2015 Sr5 Tacoma, standard, one of the last in Canada.

I want to change tires, rims and eventually lift this beautiful beast with a 3'' inch lift kit.

For know, I don't know what lift kit I will choose, and what will be avalaible in Quebec, Canada.
But I would like to buy the tires and rims first and maybe use them before lifting the truck.

So, What are the best tires sizes for a 3 inch lift tacoma? What is the maximum tire/rims size I can get with my stock tacoma for the time before I will lift the truck,

I was thinking 285/70/17 : they look great on lifted tacoma. Maybe Goodyear duratracs or Bf all terrain T/a KO.

I am 80% in city, 20% dirt roads. 50% of this time with 2 axles 15 foot trailers ( waterfowl hunting). Also like to have fun offroad ;)

    thank you

3rd gen 5100 bilstiens set at 0 with ome 888s, LR UCA, 5160 bilstiens in back with icon 3 leaf aal with 1" block. Fuel savage wheel wrapped in nitto ridge grapplers 285/70/17
I would probably lift truck first, then buy rims and tires. My 05 I bought rims and tires before lift, then after lift, didn't like that set up. Just my 2cents
    Good luck

You will not fit tires that size without a lift or without rubbing and trimming. 265/75/16 are the largest you can fit without a lift and any trimming. So if that is your desired size you should lift first.

Also pay attention to the weight of your new tire and wheel selection compared to your factory setup. I think this is commonly overlooked, and it will affect acceleration, braking, fuel economy, suspension performance, ect. Tirerack is a great site for comparing tire weights.

Take your time and do some research first.Be as patient as possible.285/70/17 your going to have to do the lift first.Good luck!

I agree, take your time, do the research first, there is a ton of information on this site and a lot of experience. I would stay away from spacer lifts, save your money and do it right, I did a spacer lift and now I am looking at other options to do it properly, just my 2 cents.
