What is.that next to the front reciever? Looks like a PTO connection, but I can't tell from the angle of the picture.

Appears to either be a factory rocket launcher, or smoke screen. Right next to the James Bond flip over license plates. I heard the 2016 has heated ball massagers. Cool truck, but i doubt it will be street legal.

Both trucks were there for an alignment. OK now for the cool part. They are from a local company that builds armored vehicles and upfits civilian vehicles with armor. I read an article a while back about the use of these for military purposes becoming more and more popular ( http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/05/24/battelle-very-special-armored-pickup-truck/ ). And for those asking about the hitch on the front, it had a winch with synthetic rope laying in the bed so I would imagine that's what it's for.

    Stock for now...
It's the same issue with the 70 series Land Cruisers the rest of the planet can have - we aren't allowed here . There are huge petitions to get them legalized in the US , but going nowhere fast . It's a shame , V8 diesel and they get north of 25mpg , last forever and are built way heavier than any US made truck .
    Grrrr....

Fiat is working on getting the chicken tax revoked so they can bring there small truck and van lineup into the USA without setting up production there.

They have a Hilux that passes all the Swedish crash testing and they go a lot further than NHTSA. I'm guessing a few quick changes to the lights and such would quickly make the Hilux street legal here. The biggest problem is the Diesel motor inside. It does not US pass emissions so the truck won't pass inspect for registration.

Toyota isn't interested in certifying there Diesels for the US market at this time. That means the odds of any new Diesel Toyota vehicles coming to the US in the next couple of years is zero even if the chicken tax is revoked.

The emissions crap seems completely ridiculous. I'd love to see the math that says selling more diesel motors in the US would cause the ruination of the local environment.

A stateside legal diesel Hilux is the ONE thing that would have me in line at the local stealership ready to buy new and trade in Audra *tomorrow*. Or, ya know, whenever they start selling them here.

Diesels produce far more NOx and particulates than gas engines. It's not just the critters that Diesels hurt, it would be the air quality densely populated area's like LA. I doubt even the new Hilux engine comes close to passing California emissions standards without the full particulate filter and urea injection.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I thought about that too. I have seen many armored toyota's and they are sweet.

but i doubt i could smear shit on enough pennies ;)
