I would love to do that!

My goal is to gain enough experience to grow a variety of veggies all year long and either have a mini farmers market or a per donation box on the side of the road.

This is my third season gardening, the first two were a disaster.

As you can see, the fruits of my labor are finally showing! :D

The first season I overwatered them. Second season I planted too late. Anything that survived or managed to sproud ended up getting destroyed by blight/rust or pests.

This season I learned from my mistakes!

Well, this rain 2" plus everyday for seems like weeks now is wrecking havoc on my garden this year. My tomato plants are 4' high with 1,000 of blooms, but if the rain doesn't let up soon they won't set and there goes my crop.

We've finally been getting our usual amount of rain. We had around 2 inches on Sunday, but prior to that we'd been getting 1/2 inch or so every few days. Now it's supposed to be nice all the way through the weekend of the 4th, so I'll have to go back to watering again by probably Saturday or so.

Depending on how hard it rains, that'll be good for the corn farmers, right?

Yep , especially in May / June

It's the driest spring and hottest June ever since they started keeping records , 65 high temperature records broken this week going back to 1898

The whole south coast of BC is at Forest Fire rating Extreme and in Drought Level 3 which includes major water restrictions

Finally bought some plants and starting a balcony garden at my apartment. Got some cayenne and Serrano peppers, tomatoes, Rosemary, basil, mint, lavender, oregano, and sundial flowers for the fiancé.

This is my first time legit growing anything (the sundials, peppers, and tomatoes started as seedlings and i replanted into pots with organic potting soil. This may be a stupid question, but how do I know how often to water the peppers and tomatoes? I know the sundials are pretty resistant and just needed to be watered when the soil is bone dry, but I'm afraid of flooding and overwatering the tomatoes and peppers. Any other tips for a first timer?

1-2 inches of water per week is a good rule of thumb, but where you're container gardening you'll want to do more along the lines of watering every couple of days, around 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch at a time (more when it's hot and dry, less when it's rainy and cool)
You want the soil to be moist, but not soggy.

My rule of thumb with container growing, well is literally stick my thumb into the soil. You want the soil to slightly stick to your thumb. Again it depends on wind, rain and sun when you need to water, just don't let the soil dry out, but again tomatoes do like a hot sun just don't let the roots to dry out and you'll be good.

Also, make sure your containers have drain ports on the bottom. They're a good 'safety net' to help keep you from overwatering (or from drowning your plants if you have a really heavy rain)

Awesome. Thanks for the tips guys. I did get pots with drain holes on the bottom. We had a pretty nasty storm last night so I might not need to water for a few days. I had been basing it on when the soil starts to turn light brown again but didn't know if that was dehydrating them too much.

I'm excited to get something going. The cayenne pepper plant had one pepper on it when I bought it, but within the 3 days after potting it, I've got two smaller ones now too. Should probably pick the large one soon since it's about 3" long
