Those nuts with their Tacomas and their forums and their big tires and out the door prices. It's why we can't have nice things.

I could survive driving thru a small flood (up to knees i guess) and my trusty flashlight behind the seat. although you gotta love that the 2nd gens (some i think, newer ones for sure) have a generator aka outlet plug in the bed so that helps.

If there is a wifi hotspot when I go camping tomorrow, I'll pour gas on it and light it on fire.

Maybe 2-4 weeks, I carry generally a week of food. I also carry fishing/fly rod gear with me. And it's coming up on rabbit season so I have my 10/22 in the truck every day, as well as my EDC G20 with reloads. I also have my MSR Mini works, so water wouldn't be an issue. I did take my sleeping bag out last weekend and I'm waiting on my RTT

    ^this!

all I have is some mechanics gloves, a flashlight, a Sig 1911, some tiedowns, a leatherman MUT, a can of Red Bull (2 days old now) and a note pad with a red stubby sharpie. I guess with no food and water I am screwed.

need to consider making a short term survival kit

Yup, I have a few days worth of water and MREs. That would be the only limiting factor on how long I could go without resupplying or finding a source of clean water/food. Oh, and gas.

But the truck is ready to go at a moments notice.

I don't get it. Are we prepping for a camping trip and I get to load my truck the way I usually do?
I.e. "what's the most protracted camping trip you could comfortably take in your tacoma without changing the way it's built?" In that case, the answer is a little less than a week, unless I'm camping somewhere with a water source where I can boil and filter water. In that case, I could probably pack for nearly two weeks. But that would end up being all on dry and dehydrated food, and that would get old fast. So - say a week.

Or is this some doomsday prepper scenario? In that case, the answer is that I should carry more drinkable water in my truck in event of earthquake. I keep meaning to add some. But flats of water just slide around in the bed.

    Great thread OP!

I think about this, but need to do more about it. I live in the midwest (work in St. Louis but live in IL) and if there was ever a bad earthquake that would destroy bridges, I wouldnt be able to get home because of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. Anyone ever thought about an inflatable raft? lol

I have a camper shell, so that will help. I currently carry a first aid kit (that Ive put together that includes quick clot, wound treatment, pain, sinus, stuff for poison ivy, bug bites, burns, blisters, etc), leatherman, pocket knife, small binoculars, magnesium fire starter, EDC pistol, extra rounds, ratchet straps, tow strap, clevis, chains on occasion, 2 pairs leather gloves, rope, basic tools (a few sockets, multiheaded screwdriver), small blanket, and a hat (Im bald as hell lol). In the winter I add 2 50lb bags of sand in the back of the truck. That could be a pillow. haha.

I just got the t-bolts for the bed to attach my hilift jack, and on the other side plan on a shovel and an axe.

    List to add:
    Emergency blanket
    Flashlight
    Bigger knife
    Paracord
    Tarp
    MRE's
some type of water purification (life straw or something)

Also I could last a pretty long time. Matches, candles, axes, hatchets, knives, flashlights, RTT, blankets, pillows, water, extra gas, snacks, tire plug kit, air compressor... I'm set.

Gasoline would be my limiting factor. Cold snaps in the winter could get uncomfortable too. I spent a few days out last winter where it was so cold that the heater in my camper couldn't get the inside temp above freezing, so sleeping in the back of the truck would be chilly.

I have a tent in their now and a fishing pole so i could get my food and sleep.. Would be fun to drop off the face of the earth for a few weeks haha.
