I am currently in the process of purchasing a pro comp 6" lift for my 2008 Toyta Tacoma... the truck is relatively new and hasn't been touched by the previous owner, hasn't been off-roading until I purchased it a few months ago from a local dealership.

I could use some opinions I do love to off-road / ride sand a lot and here on Kauai we have some awesome mountain trails nothing to the extreme is where I'm taking this baby but in general off-roading situations when I'm enjoying a day out with family/friends.

so I was looking at the pro comp lift; for off-roading should I go with pro comp stage 1 6" lift or pro comp stage 2 6" lift? this is for weekend usage of beach/mountain riding so it will be used more often than not so I'd like something comfortable.

I would go with a fabtech lift but 4wheelparts doesn't have the full suspension kit for my truck anymore I am not sure why or if maybe they ran out of stock and need to re-stock soon.

what are your thoughts and what stage would you get or maybe go in the direction of fabtech but need a source to purchase fabtech from until 4wheelparts either re-stocks or I buy it from a shop here on Kauai for more than online price

6" seems a bit much for "general off-road situations"

most 3" suspension setups will suffice.

the biggest problem I have with fab-tech and pro-comp drop-bracket 6" lifts is you don't gain any ground clearance...so you'd more or less have the same clearance as a 3" + static tire size height gain.

I have a ~3.5" suspension lift with 255/85(33s) and have done some silly things, but never got stuck(yet).

IF you are dead set on the 6 inch lift, go with pro comp stage 1 and then get some icons. The stage II shocks sux major balls.

If I am buying a suspension it's going to be fox racing or icon. I had fox on my f 150 and the ride was great.By far the best I have ever had.

    2005-2009 95 Dodge Ram 6" fabtech
    2009-2014 2004 f150 3" fox racing 2.5

I planned on making my truck look like my friends; expect for the rims. I was thinking of going with chrome all I see now days are black rims... time for change in the yota community.

Well money isn't an issue really, I work as a helicopter pilot with decent pay I suppose for just starting with this company I'm currently working for. Its just that I have lots of downtime when I'm not working and could probably use that time to wrench my baby

I just went through this. 6" lifts aren't worth it. You lose ground clearance, fuck up your gear ratios with huge tires, hack your crossmember and generally create more problems for yourself. My 2 cents.

I have the stage 2 pro comp lift. I would buy the stage 1 and with the extra money you saved order the 6" coilovers from Icon. The pro comp coilovers are crappy, especially how bad Kuhio highway is. Our roads needs some major repaving, we ride around our main highway on a daily like we're off roading.

Don't get chrome rims, they start rusting from the inside of the rims and then start spider webbing towards the front side. Now if you're looking to get polished aluminum rims that will work here in Hawaii. Welds look pretty bad ass.

Small world, my brother is a helicopter pilot. He flies for Blue Hawaiian Helicopters!

I have a 3" procomp lift with 285's clearance is okay for Kaena point but tires rub when driving a little fast off road. Irritated with the squeaky leafs. was told the revtek add a leaf was better. was also thinking of going with a 6" lift to get rid of the rubbing in the fender wells. will this take care of that or should I do a body lift? my pacer fender flares rub as well... any suggestions would be appreciated.

If your going to do a 6" lift might want to look at bds or zone ( basically the same kits). I recommend getting the basic kit and just building it yourself ( adding your own coilovers or longer bilstein shocks, new leaf pack, ss brake lines etc.) Rcd also makes a good db kit which is basically a 5" lift.

I was thinking of getting 275's next time I need new tires... or maybe even going back to the 265's. rubbing on the pacer flares too... only get the 1.75" flares cuz the tires don't stick out that much... just wanted to make sure I passed recon.
