I was off roading in a fresh water lake and was driving on the rim and the ground gave way and my truck got flooded 50% on the passanger side. It tries to crank, the ecu fuse popped (now replaced), the key remains stuck in the ignition unless i disconnect the battery, i removed the spark plugs and no water came out, replaced with new spark plugs and dried out the ecu and plugs, she still doesnt turn on, what do i do next? Even took off the right side panels and dprayed them with compressed air, still wont start. Is there a way to check the ecu outside the truck?

Do dash lights come on? Do you have any OB2 readers? id check all your fues. I sunk my 4runner before, just took in to much water to keep running. I pulled the spark plugs cranked it blew out no water, dryed the intake,K&N, put the plugs back in and cranked it a few times till she ran. No electrical problems, just a check engine casue of the intake sensor being unpluged.

My dash board lights up, the ecu throws no codes, i have checked all the fuses, the ecu fuse blew, it had been replaced with a new fuse, my friend said my ecu has to be bad since its not throughing any codes. I tried turning it on and still no luck. Just so guys know my entire right side of the truck was inder water up to the window.

If the ECU was under water, which by your description it was, then things inside are probably toast. Computers don't like being in dirty water.

If it was up that high then the ecu definitely got wet. Similar thing happened to me, except water was up to the bottom of the butt pad on the passenger seat. Ecu got wet, most of the electrical connections were fried, and taco went bye bye on the back of a tow truck.

Try and unplug a few sensors and see if the ecu starts throwing codes.

That's a huge bummer man, sorry to hear it. Mine recently experienced about 4.5' of water as well (not OR but in a parking garage sadly) and it didn't fair so well. Hope you have better luck than I did!

A friend of mind who works at a dealership hooked me up. I towed it there with the ecu i ordered online, they reprogrammed the used ecu with my original vin and she started right up. Only the ac actuator and the O2 sensor got messed up, along with the door locks but everything else works fine.20150529_180535.jpg

Awesome man! Glad it all worked out for you. With only a few minor things not working there, sounds like you made out pretty well. Just one question though, how the heck did you get that far out into a lake? Haha. Glad it all worked out man

You should have just played the lottery. You were one, lucky SOB! Anyone else would be contacting their insurance company.

    Glad you got it running.

Next time don't use it as a submarine. Consider yourself lucky. The next time you might not be so much.

It swam for a while, and impressively well too. But it did end up drowning in the end.
