Hello, currently I have a 04 Double Cab Tacoma. I am looking at possibly upgrading to a 2nd Gen. I love my first gen but the extra room would be nice. ( 2 kiddos)

I found a 10 Tacoma with 73xxx miles and the dealership is asking $25,995. Is this a fair asking price? It seems to have some mods but I haven't been able to ask what has been done to it and what maintenance has been like.

I would consider trading my Tacoma in but I know I would benefit more selling it outright. Just looking for a decent deal is all. Thanks!

A little more detail about what type of Tacoma would be helpful.

It's a 2010 Double Cab TRD 4x4 manual trans. Has a lift but I'm not sure what kind as of yet. Unknown other mods at this time.

I got a 2011 DCLB sport 4x4 one owner no accidents with 81K for $20,600 and a good trade on my Focus ST. I think I stole it from the dealer so keep that in mind... it depends on a lot of things. how many owners? Clean carfax? 4x4? LB or SB? Mods? what part of the country?

EDIT: Sorry, I see now it is a 4x4 short bed manual.... you should be able to leverage the manual as it is a tough sell for the dealer (they will say it is rare but there is a reason for that, not a popular). Mods also will hurt the dealers ability to sell as it scares away buyers... you should be able use both to your advantage.

True, I am going to get more info on it later today. It's in Idaho. I live in MT.

I believe it is a short box

get the VIN then the carfax. use everything you can to get him to come down in price. He will tell you a standard is rare so he can ask more for it... He will tell you the truck is lifted so he can ask more... both are wrong. He took the previous owner to the cleaners with both the standard and the lift... take him to the cleaners... also. the car is worth what people will pay, if it has been sitting at his dealer for months use that also. If that were in Rochester NY you could get it for about $22,500 (my guess) if it was clean carfax. I bought mine last month and played two dealers off each other "I like this truck but I am going to XYZ to check out their truck"... it helps if they know you are serious and have options.

P.S. my dealer started out at $25,500 and dropped to $22,900. I got them down to $20,500 over the span of 3 days and two visits.

    just some thoughts.

Depending on your budget...you might want to look at what kind of deal you can get for a MY15 over buying used.

Example: I picked up my new '14 TRD Off Road DCSB for just a few thousand more (less than $4K) than what you're being quoted for a '10.

Sticker prices/MSRP doesn't mean so much - drive a hard deal.

Yeah I bought my 07 trd sport 83k miles with leather seats and some brand new AT tires in Idaho falls last year. Truck was in awesome shape. They had it listed at 25k and got them down to a bit over $22k the first day. Walked away. Next day, they called them and they brought it down another thousand bucks and added a bug deflector so I got it.

$26k is too high but I'm sure if that's their listed price you can talk them down to about 22-23k no prob
