OEM vs after market engine air filters

    After reading the excellent post showing the OEM vs after market oil filters, I have to ask. Has anyone one done a similar test with engine air filters? Are the OEM air filters the best quality or are there better after market alternatives?

    Stick with the OEM air filter. All the others won't change or do anything additional. So don't waste your money

    I run stock. I had the TRD/AFE CAI. Dint see any gains. I've seen a few others on here do power tests with no gains. I run the OEM air and oil filters.

    I am running an OEM filter currently. I'm not really looking for power gains, just the best protection available.

    I too simply want the best protection. I like the idea of more power, but I'll worry that about once I pay the truck off. Lol.

    In my personal experience...all my Tacomas always were happier with OEM Oil Filters. I'd stick to OEM.

    I was using Wix my local dealer closed now I switched to Toyota Just bought a case of Air Filters and Oil filters should last about a year.

    I use OEM. I tried a TRD drop in filter and it came with the taco tick. I walked back inside and returned it. Put the stock filter back in and my motor is quite. Wtf

    Does anyone actually know what the micron and flow rating is for any of these filters? I sadly tried looking but can't seem to find the info.

    (insert filter I didn't think of)

    I don't trust my butt dyno and visual inspection of the intake won't tell one much in the way of how well 1 filters air over another (with the exception of extreme cases).

    What loose information I do have is that Denso and Wix are kind of neck in neck.
    They are both cellulose filters and based on tests in other vehicles seem to be about the same.

    Anyway, just curious in case someone has that info as I'm just looking for hard facts/like to compare stuff.
