I have been PMing with him about picking one up from him in Mid July. I was trying to see if anyone else in SoCal want to save shipping cost by helping me pay for gas. I haven't heard back from any of the interested people I PM'd I'll let you know when we work out a firm date for my trip up!

I have ProACT training in Camarillo July 20th, through the 24th. I will be heading down there from NorCal in my wife's 4runner. I could probably bring them if you want to talk to him and if he can get them to me in Red Bluff if he's coming up here again before then. They'd be riding on the roof, but that shouldn't be a problem. I would just box them.

Ok, officially I am down to 7 full size panels. Two of those are for the Alaska guys if we can get the shipping down in price. Another is for venturasupermagna when we meet up how ever that happens. So that's 4 left and I have PM's to answer.

If I were to make these again it will be in two pieces to make shipping easier.

    Alaska guys:

    https://shiptoalaska.com/

Looks like residents can join for $20. I ship the panel to Seattle and then it gets flown for cheaper (presumably) to you guys. Maybe worth looking in to?

Hunter: Man you have been wanting one for a long time and shipping has been too steep. One of the 7 panels has a slight twist that will bolt out but it isn't perfect, so I will let it go to you for cheaper (if you want it)............hopefully that makes it more possible to offset the pain of getting it to Alaska.

Nat, what are your package box dimensions and weight (two panels, one box)? You can shop Hunters and mine in the same box, we work together to reduce the shipping costs of a larger package.

    Hey Nat,

Thanks for getting back to me. As long as the lightly tweaked panel will still bolt in straight, I'd be happy to buy it from you. I appreciate the price discount for the wait too.

Brandon and I (the other Alaska guy) work in the same office at Ft. Wainwright. It would make sense to me (and him) to ship our panels together to cut down on shipping costs. Also on that note: We both want to get this panel, we are both LT's in the Army, and are both willing to pay for the shipping. I'm not sure why you are overly concerned with the shipping cost if we are agreeing to pay it in full. We both know how expense it is to ship things to Alaska. That's not on you.

Let me know how we can facilitate this transaction. I appreciate all of your effort to get these panesl out to us. I hope you are doing well.

I did some quick digging into this: a 50"x24"x6" 30lb package ships to Fairbanks for $104.80. If this is something you can do, I'd be happy to facilitate this as well.

I was in on the original buy. All I did was clean mine up with MEK, prime it with Zinc Chromate and final coated with Rust-Oleum Hammered finish. I have the 60% portion of my rear seat removed so it's exposed 100% of the time with no signs of wear. What I'm trying to say is, save your money on the powder-coat unless you can get it done way cheap.

My powder coat guy will charge me $20. He's cool. Plus then I never have to worry about scratches.

More importantly how did you mount it and measure for holes.

Can't beat $20 with a stick for powdercoating.

I tried to use as many of the factory mounting holes as possible. It's been a while since I did the install but the middle of the panel can hit mostly factory holes. I think I used a couple of the rivnuts that Nat supplied which are M6. I used a size "W" (.3860) drill bit, not sure how readily available that is but I had a machine shop available. If you check back through posts #203 up to around #249 there were a lot of the initial installs going on. I definitely recommend sound insulation on the rear bulkhead before you do the install. The seat and the rear storage blocked a lot of noise. Good luck, it's a sweet setup once you get it dialed in.
