Deck plate mod worth it?

    Done a bit of research on this but I see most of them are the 3.4 variants. Anyone do this on the 2.7 3rz and was it worth it? Any noticeable throttle response or HP, gas milage increase/decrease? Thanks in advance!

    3in lift (Bilstein 5100, AAL), Bull Bar with halogen Hella Fogs and High Beams
    Makes a bit of noise, bit better throttle response, maybe a bit of a MPG increase, helps with hills at speed (maybe), but really the biggest thing is the noise. But it's so cheap just go ahead and do it.

    used to have - 99 2.4L I4 5 lug & 04 prerunner v6
    it has a greater impact when done on the 4 cylinder engines where you can notice it has more throttle response and better gas mileage, with the v6 its more of a "well, I think its better" improvement

    I agree. Ive done it on both and it was improvement on both but a lot more on the 2.7l.

    So here's how I did the one on my 3.4. Same concept just on the 2.7box. The picture actually shows the front lower part cut. And buy the deck plate online cheap. That way you can always screw it back in. I also use some screen door mesh in it to prevent big stuff from going in. If you plan on going in water you also need to seal it but if not you should be okay.

    I've seen and read plenty on the above, just not much about cutting the backside. Seems like a better idea with the cooler air drawing.

    All opinions are totally subjective. I have not seen any dyno tests or scan gauge readings to prove any HP or MPG increase. IMO it's a dumb mod and a waste of time.
