So I just bought my 2013 DCSB 3 weeks ago and am wanting to lift it. I don't want to go all crazy with it since it is my daily driver. I also don't want to lose to much of the power and gas mileage. I am torn between a 4" and 6" lift. I really would rather stay away from spacers. I will be doing some casual off roading but nothing to extreme. In other words I want it to perform on the road and when I decide to hit the trails I want to be able to do it in confidence knowing that I have nothing to worry about. I have been looking at Toytech and Fabtech and then tonight I came across the ZoneLifts. I have never heard anything about them and cant find too many reviews on them. They are however the cheapest I have found. I just don't want to make a mistake and I want to do this thing right the first time. Any advice or input will be greatly appreciated and anyone with history on the Zone Lifts would be great as well.

If you don't want to "go all crazy" and its a daily driver why not a 3" suspension lift?

well I have thought about it, but am wondering if it would be enough to successfully fool around off road. any idea what the biggest size tire I could run with a 3"?

OME full kit from Headstrong (887 springs). You won't be disappointed. 258/70/17 for tires. What's your budget? You installing yourself?

well budget wise I was trying to keep under $5,000 including install. if came down to it I can do the install myself. the more money I save on this the more I have to spend on something else.

Trent_G... I checked out the OME lift and I think that would probably do the trick for me. However I have a question on the springs, you said go with the 887's. Headstrongs website says that the 886's work better for bumpers and plates which I am thinking about getting as well. Headstrong also says to use the 887's to reach the 3" lift. Am I correct to assume that the 887 springs are heavier duty than the 886's and will do just as good of a job as the 886's if I add a bumper and plates? Or would I just be messing the whole 3" up by adding the bumper?
Thanks for the help, by the way. It is appreciated.

884 885 and 887 all have the same spring rate (firmness) and will give 2, 2.5, and 3" of lift in a double cab in that order. 886 springs are firmer springs which will give you similar about 2.5" of lift but will be much stiffer.

3" gives you more than enough to do some serious offroading. That's what most people choose for an ideal lift. OME is a great choice and gets lots of well earned high reviews from users on this site. You really can't go wrong. Don't do an add-a-leaf or block in the rear though. Get the full Dakar leaf pack to replace the stock set.

I was contemplating between a 6 vs 3 inch lifts for a while. Ended up with a 3inch running 285 70 17 tires. No regrets, looks damn perfect and still fits in the garage. I'd look into old man emu kit. If you do plan on getting a bumper installed soon after the lift I'd run the 886 coils, it will be harsh and stiff until you get that bumper installed to smooth it out.

ok...so should I stay away from the bumper?...I was looking at the Pelfreybilt front bumper. oh and with that kit will I be needing a new traction bar, sway bar, whatever the proper term is for it, or can the stock one be reused? and upper control arms? are new ones necessary? I apologize for being so ignorant on the subject!

Thanks Alfred! Will the truck sit level once installed or would I have to put a leveling kit on it to accomplish that after the lift?

I think the kit should come with sway bar relocation brackets. I ordered my parts from Dan of wheelers offroad, I'd recommend them. Very helpful in answering all my questions.

A leveling kit is pretty much a spacer lift. That's the cheapest route in lifting a truck and not the best. But the old man emu kit is pretty much a whole suspension upgrade that lifts the vehicle. If you get the OME kit with Dakar leaf springs in the rear your truck might sit a bit higher in the rear but that's how a truck should sit. I have icon stage 1 with Dakars in the rear. My rear sits a tad bit higher but it doesn't bother me.

    Too many to list now.
We cant keep OME suspension parts on the shelf. Bar nonethe best ride youcan get for the money. You're looking around 2k with install most likely. I'd get the 886's personally over the 88$'s. Designed for the ARB bumper weight (heavy) with a winch. 887's are overkill IMO

This is what your truck would look like with an ome lift using 886 front springs and Dakar leaf pack. I also have the 1/4" spacer on the drivers side for Tacoma lean. The first picture has sliders installed and the second picture is with sliders, bumper and skid plate installed. Both pictures are with a 265/70/17 tire until I can fit 315/70/17. Also have light racing upper control arms that I need to install.

with a $5000 budget you could go with like fox, icon, or king for suspension 3 inch and its plenty to mess around off road most people here have 3 or 6 inch lifts

6" lifts are for mall crawlers, all looks. 3" max to keep it functional.

You do realize that you don't need a lift at all to be a very capable off road vehicle, especially if you have a 4x4 off road with A-Trac and rear lockers.

    Whats overkill about an 887?
I'm assuming you are familiar with OME product since you indicate you sale it. Aside from having the same spring rate as the 884 and 885 coils, dimensionally there is very little difference thereby only providing just a bit more preload over the 885s.

Should someone be interested in say a 2.5" lift and runs a plate bumper that's not as heavy as the ARB one and does so without a winch, the 887s could be an good option.
