I've never heard of this problem. I have an '04 V6 with 160k and original injectors. Just dump cleaner in every oil change and use Top Tier.

I have been doing that. Toyota just cleaned them and said I should have I stalled new ones after 150,000 miles. They wanted $400.00 for the injectors and $250.00 man hours. Price for a set of 6 is $200.00 online and auto stores. I get no power and have to pump the gas petal to move.

I went 300000 on my original injectors and never once added any fuel treatment or changed the fuel filter.

Are you sure you have an injector problem? Most times when they get bad, you will have a hot start issue.

When injectors start going bad, they generally leak when the vehicle motor is off. This is noticed more when the truck sits for 30-60 minutes after fully warmed up. The engine is hot, so the leaky injector fills the intake with a large amount of fuel That turns to a very rich vapor concentration. You try to start the truck and it acts like the engine is flooded, which it is. You have to crank and crank the engine to get rid of the excess fuel vapors before it will start.

This happens because the fuel system is still under pressure. The pressure pushes against the leaky injectors, thus putting unwanted fuel into the engine when the engine is off.

You don't notice this with cold starts because the fuel that leaked past the bad injectors has all night to evaporate.

Subbed. Thinking I have leaky injectors myself. Plan on replacing them.. would leaky injectors affect mileage considerably?

Top tier gas, like chevron, shell, Costco, etc.

Don't use seafoam. Use Chevron Techron concentrate. Lots of folks of Bob is the Oil Guy swear by it and have shown its better than seafoam.

Seafoam did nothing for me. Used bg44k and didn't seem to do anything either. Maybe I'll give the techron stuff a shot in the meantime before I delve deeper into my motor..I plan on purchasing some injectors on eBay as well as a bunch of other things to basically rebuild the top end while I'm in there to fix a tiny coolant leak I discovered somewheres. Anyways... what do you think about these injectors?

I would stick with OEM parts. As far as your coolant leak, it may be a sign that the water pump needs to be replaced depending on your mileage. Might as well do the timing belt while you're in there as that is likely due as well.

Naw water pump kit was done a few months ago. It's leaking out of the back plate under the intake manifold by firewall. Thinks it's the bypass tube inside or a manifold gasket. So I'll just be buying everything I can since I'll tear the top end down to find that leak. It's actually not leaking lately. Saw some coolant dribbles down the backside of the motor and discovered its leaking through the foam surrounding that plate... Anyways, I kinda wanna try them injectors out as I'm on a budget. Is there a similar oem set to buy versus going thru stealership that won't cost me an arm?

they look great but a note of caution on the seller.

I sent her a pm about injectors a few months back asking if they were new new or new rebuilt reconditioned and she had no clue and said she had no idea, she replied "I am just reselling them and I don't know any details about them"

lease let us know if you buy them and how they look because I might be buying a set if you can confirm they are genuine "new" and not reconditioned.

it seams just like the timing belt, its a good idea to replace the injectors after 100k miles since they can start to leak and cause problems when they get old.

At toyota now. They do not know about problem with injectors. Toyota new injectors $186.00 each. Online same part number $186.00 to $220.00 a set. Last time they cleaned the injectors. Within three weeks the problem came back. When it happens I have to pump the gas petal.

yes, on yours its under the drivers seat mounted to the frame rail, to replace it you need to loosen the fuel line brackets to allow room to separate the filter from the lines and it will leak fuel so be sure to do it after the truck has sat several hours to remove pressure in the lines and be prepared to get gas spilled on your hands while you replace it.

on 4 cylinders its hidden way up under the intake manifold where it almost cant be seen.

Found the problem with injectors. It was the electric control for the injectors. Toyota did the whole replacement and parts, labor for free. Toyota has a warranty on this part. So if you have the problem of the engine not responding to the gas pedal. Take it in. Toyota plugged in a portable laptop and drove my Tacoma 2004 for 5 minutes and did the replacement of parts. Labor. Etc... $1,400.00 total cost. I paid zero. Repairs free for me
