    Sheppymach,
Thanks for the tip. Question, how did you connect to map lights? Solder?

Will the map light work in a single cab and just replace the existing light?

Added TRD hood. Paint matched headlight mod. Anytime fog light. Map lights to dome.
Well to everyone doing this mod. I had leds in my map lights. Did everything by the book and it still didn't work. Turns out by swapping the wire locations of the map light connector you are changing polarity of the whole circuit there. So mine wasn't working until I remembered leds only work in one direction. Flipped my leds around from the way they were and bingo. Worked. Just fyi.

    Not enough...
I just installed LED lights for Map/Dome/License plate/Reverse. They are all polarity dependent.

I did this mod today on a 2013 Tacoma Db cab. It took me longer to get the truck apart than it did wire the lights. Here is how I did it.
At the dome light I put a small machine screw through the hole on the silver side
With a red ring terminal and a nut and washer on the back side of the machine screw.

At the map lights I switched the wires at the white connection and bent the third unused terminal up and use a red insulated female terminal crimped down to fit snug and tight on the bent terminal.

Easy mod with great results. Map lights still work independent of the dome light .

Did this one a couple months ago, I cab get a few pictures if anyone needs.

On the dome light, I drilled out one of the little rivets holding one of the metal bulb brackets down, and ran a bolt through, and attached the wire onto the screw before the nut

Reviving an old thread here. Did everything exactly as others and it works as described. Independent map light operation etc.. However, there is now way to turn off the map lights when leaving a door open. Ya know, like when your doing a wiring project (ironic).

Options? I could put a switch on the jumper wire. Swap for LEDs, so I don't have to worry about heat or battery drain. Reverse the mod. Any other ideas?

Swap to LEDs AND conceal a switch in the sunglass holder to turn them off when needed.
