I'm a wuss when it comes to CC size. I'll admit it. The 19 is way to big to CC IWB for me. The 26 is still just a little to thick also with the grip. And obviously we are talking millimeters but still. I like a thin gun (aka single stack for IWB). That's where the Shield and now the 43 fit nice for me.

I bought 4 extra magazines for my 43. But the above post is right. At least with the 26 you're able to use a 19 or 17 magazine.

Magtech ammo is a bit on the dirty side but it goes bang when you pull the trigger. While I tend to prefer PMC over Magtech for range time, I think I've still got about 1500 rounds of Magtech in the safe.

Exactly! After watching Hickok45 do his review I thought I'd be hitting bullseye from 20-30 yards. Nope. This is definitely my under 10 yard gun. I need to keep practicing. If you're coming from an G17,19 or any lager 1911 or even Beretta youll find these little "compact" carry pistols will drive you nuts with your accuracy at first.

I actually felt like the g43 felt thicker in my hand than the shield and the shield printed less (for me) I wanted something much slimmer than my g19 cause it really was too big to carry for me even though many people carry it. Plus for under $400 for the shield out the door is a deal ;).

Not really worried about my accuracy with it

I need to run some rounds thru it so I know it functions and what ammo it likes so I can start carrying it...I've had a 42 for about a year and it has probably 1000 rounds thru it and the accuracy wasn't and isn't an issue with it

I don't really look at the sights or take long drawn out aim and fire shots or shoot further than about 15 yards or so out

If I can't point shoot or at least shoot only using the front sight...a pistol won't be carried

ordered a case of Golden Tiger 7.62x39mm ammo. The world's only FMJBT, 124gr AK ammo with lacquered primer pockets and bullets. LOVE this ammo. S&G gets a container full every 6-8 months and it sells out FAST. Half the case is for my dad for his Saiga, the other half is for my Yugo M92 PAP SBR.

I'm pretty sure that if ruger sold just receivers for $100, no one would ever buy a 10/22 again. Seems like, at a minimum, normal 10/22 owners swap the bbl and stock, often before even shooting the rifle... And some people upgrade more parts than that!

There are plenty of aftermarket receivers out there. I built a Kidd custom rifle and the only parts that came from Ruger were the buttstock and the trigger group. Buttstock because I like the laminated OEM target stock, and target trigger group was used to keep the pull above 3lbs. I bought the stock from a member here that he took off a new gun and replaced with a boyds. Got the TG new from shooters discount for $60 complete. All other parts were sourced from Kidd.

Took a night fighting course in Arizona a couple weeks ago where someone had to lend me an Inforce APL after my Surefire took a dump on me. This is the best handgun light I've ever used. I love my Surefires, but the controls on these are simpler and more intuitive. Way easier to manipulate from the weak side.
