2010 tacoma prerunner v6 sr5

I removed the battery from my truck and took it to auto zone to have it checked.
Even though the battery had 12.6v it was bad.Bought a new battery and put it on my truck and it started right up.Drove up to auto zone and checked the alternator and the diode failure went away. seems like the bad battery triggered the alternator diode failure.the bad batt was three years old.weird I think but everything is fine now.
