Oh, and if there's any interest, I took video under the hood. I know nothing about the Toyota motors, but I thought with some video some more knowledgeable folk here could shed some light on what's there.

It was clearly labelled a "PROTOTYPE", yes, all-caps... and you could see some of the fit-and-finish was now quite there... centre console arm-rest being the most noticeable offender. A few trim pieces were clearly pre-production too, but still, it lets you get the idea. The colour matched trim piece around the dash is really nice, the idea clearly lifted from the FJs.

And I did ask about HP/torque, and no, they don't know. The guys on the tour don't even get to drive it... it's trailered from show-to-show.

And yes, it will be available in the Orange you see above.

Yes, I am another bloody Canadian. Sorry ;-)

EDIT: Just looking at the video now... I used my sports camera - from my bicycle.... so it's very wide angle. Boo. And worse, there was lots of glare from where it's dark inside the truck and the sun was shining in across the lens protector... so the video quality is basically crap, but I will post it anyway, but don't expect much :( It will take a few hours to get the video downloaded (yep.. 1080p import takes a while and I have a ton of other footage importing) and then to get it posted, so here's another Canadian "sorry" for you.

Did you happen to check out the back seat? How does it compare to the 2nd generation?

Herniator, I did, even though I was not interested, as it was the double cab, and I will be getting the access cab. But I tried to think... what will people want video of, so I took some anyway. I was very disappointed that the shots of the sunroof controls, etc., are all washed out from spill light. The back seat shots are not so bad.

They were careful to point out that it is pre-production, a "prototype", so what they presented may not be what we get in Septoctofebrujanuary. But I do have the video anyway, and will get it up ASAP... probably tomorrow as I will be hitting the hay early tonight.

I am not familiar with the existing truck, so don't really have anything to compare it to, so the best I can say is wait for the video. I may be able to grab some stills off the camera now if that interests you.

Edit - here's the pics. Very crappy quality, I know.... screen caps from a video. And I didn't use my viewfinder app, so I didn't realize the shots were all backlit or washed out.. the attempt to shoot the sunroof controls was the worst. I am only sharing because if you're like me, you're desperate to find info on this truck.

Thanks for the pics. Is it me or everything looks the same in the back?

I have only seen the 2015's once... when I went to the dealership to consider one, and they told me the 2016 was coming.... so from what I recall of the brief visit to the showroom, yes, they are very much the same. But that could be because it's a prototype and they needed to put something in there... or it could be that the 2nd gen design works good enough in the 3rd gen body, and this is what we will be getting. All speculation at this point, especially from me, as I am very new to the Taco world! I'm still rollin' in my Hyundai at the moment.

Looks like the interior has some nicer material on the doors.

I really like the looks of the truck from the side and rear plus the interior looks like a great upgrade to the second gen. It's just that damn front end, it's like it had an allergic reaction to something and swelled up.

Look at the dash above the ECT button, between the 4WD and Temp controller, there's a button for the heated mirrors.

To me or looks like there might be slightly more room in the back. Looks like the distance from the front side of the lower cushion is farther away from the back of the front armrest.

Thanks for the pics, especially of the rear seat area. Seems like nobody's cared to show us that part in the 6 months we've been teased with this thing.

Those are the best pics I have seen of the 3rd Gen seats. I am hoping that they made a slight improvement on the legroom issue.

ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.
Really like the interior but can't get excited about the front end. Really was hoping they wouldn't follow the 4 runner styling. Oh well I'm not in the market anyway and they made it even easier.

To me the room in the back looks less than that of the current model. Maybe its because the front seats are all the way back?

Thanks Swimmer! I just got home and will work on the video shots some more. They're pretty bad.... embarrassingly bad, but all we want now is content, right? Your shots are awesome. I wish I had taken my DSLR with me :(

EDIT: Exporting video now... over 6G so I had to scale back the quality setting to get it under 1G. I'll upload it to YouTube and provide a link here once I am done.
