Replacing upper and lower on both sides. Lowers are cake but I keep hearing how the uppers are pain to change. Looking at it, it seems like a rented ball joint press and basic hand tools are all that's needed. Am I missing something here? Any surprises I'm bound to run in to?

Watched several videos on youtube as I am in the midst of that with the right side as it spit the wheel off. Seems pretty straight forward and for sure wouldn't put it off if they are suspect. Waiting on the rain to stop long enough to finish mine. It sure won't make your day if it pops going down the road.

While you're pressing tap the area around the joint with a her it will make it go faster. Put tension tap it. Add more tension tap it etc till it pops out

What he said and don't forget to remove the snap ring.
FWIW there is only about a quarter inch band around the joint that is a press fit.
