Anyone else notice they removed the huge turn 2 stands?

Yeah, a lot of tracks are removing grandstands since they can't sell seats anymore. It looks better on TV to cram everyone into a smaller area and not have gaping holes. Plus, the majority of the track's revenue comes from Tv money rather than ticket sales.

It went to the Coke 600 and it was crazy to see no stands on the backstretch at Charlotte, just a big land fill back there now. But, I can understand the need to do this, they never sold any tickets for that section in all of the years I've been going there.

This has been a rough season for me and I've barely watched the races that I have not gone to, since I'm a Tony Stewart fan, hopefully he'll get it turned around soon.

Yeah, now I know why they like their races at night; so you can't see that massive landfill back there. The track used to be a landfill too. A sinkhole opened up in the infield once and gulped up a tow truck. I was there for the All-Star weekend in May. The on-track racing is good as ever, unfortunately, the TV "product" isn't selling the true experience. I quit watching a couple years ago because I couldn't stand the coverage anymore. I tune into PRN or MRN on the radio and do other things like wrench on my truck or bike while listening to the race. I get more stuff done. it's much better than TV, actually. I cancelled my cable and save enough $ to pick 2-3 races a year to go to. I did Atlanta & Charlotte for CUP so far and Birmingham for INDYCAR. Planning to do Talladega again in the Fall. I've done Daytona, Atlanta, Darlington, Charlotte & Talladega for ARCA, Truck, Grand National and Cup races. Barber for INDYCAR and Circuit of the Americas (Austin) for F1. Charlotte is definitely the nicest facility I've ever been to. Talladega is the best throwback track. Darlington is my favorite track to watch a race. I haven't been to Daytona since '94 so I can't say much about the place. I plan to do Martinsville, Richmond, Bristol and Indy in the next few years.

BTW, I keep a blog over on tumblr covering some current stuff, but mostly old images and stories from the days of yore on long gone bullrings and speedways:

I agree about the t coverage also too much butt kissing by the commentators so they get to renew their contracts.

Nbc coverage tomorrow should be pretty good. Pretty predictable season thus far, all you Jr. Fans should be happy. Over/under 3 debris cautions tomorrow?

We usually go to both Martinsville races each year.

4 laps and a crash. I'm going to bed. Glad I didn't make the trip down there.

Man, that was a wild race through and through. Glad Austin walked away from that. Keselowski hitting him afterwards was scary too, apparently tried to slow and got into oil and spun out into him.
