Recently just picked up a 15 Tacoma Double Cab love the truck so far.

Took it out last weekend on some of the old FSR's near Harrison last weekend and discovered with the longer wheelbase it bottomed out a couple of times on some high crested hills.

Looking at maybe raising the truck a couple of inches (nothing crazy). I have very little experience with raising trucks helped a few friends but nothing ever on my own. Everyone seems to recommend getting the Bilstein 5100's.

anyone know of a good shop that can install them? if so approx. cost??

www.BigCountryCustoms.com is based in Abbotsford and carries Toytec and Old Man Emu as well as other companies. I've never dealt with them but their prices are fair for a CDN shop.

5100's are not a great way to lift if you want to maintain a good ride quality (or improve the one you have). If you are going to pay a shop to replace the front shocks you should replace the springs as well. Old Man Emu 884's will give you 2" of lift in front. It won't add to labour at all but a couple hundred bucks for a new set of coils (which will provide the lift rather than preloading the 5100's) is definitely worth it. In the rear you will need a block (not recommended but will give you height and keep the current spring rate), do an add a leaf (AAL) which will stiffen the rear end and give a little lift, or just replace with a new aftermarket leaf pack.

If you do a full kit (front and rear shock, front coils and rear leaf packs) you're looking at probably 2000-2500 with install, taxes, and an alignment. Call around, or look into ordering through an american site and getting free shipping to a UPS store in the states. You will save a few hundred that way.

With the Canadian dollar being worth 80% of whatv the USD is worth is it worth it. Plus I am not capable of a lift maybe minor mechanical work but not a lift. And most shops I have dealt with I'm the past wont use products I bring in they want to order it in.

OK man. Don't know what to tell ya. Call some shops for quotes. You asked about what shops were out there and I told you about BigCountryCustoms. There's also NSOR in Van or probably other spots as well. I ordered in the parts and did it myself but thats because I wanted to save the 600+ bucks and didn't trust people at local tire shops.

Figure out what you want (lots of research on this site - thousands of threads already discussing this stuff) then do some leg work and get some quotes both CDN and across the border. Figure out what works for you. I spent like 3 months deciding what to get and where to get it. I went through Wheelers and got it shipped to a cross-border brokerage place. If you live in Van just get a kit installed in the states on your next trip.

Did my Old Man Emu with a couple friends in about 5 hours(front struts were preassembled), a competent shop should be able to shave some time off.
