Bought this 13-14 years ago for my old dodge Dakota and never took it out of the box. Do these electric fans give the 3.4 any benefits? Or would I be better off selling it to someone?

It depends on conditions. I put one on my Jeeps to back up the mechanical fan because pulling in sand at the beach in July its hot. Your engine rpm is down so your mechanical fan isn't cooling as well, the tranny is heating up as well, the electric had a thermostat and would cut in and give a good assist to keep your temp in the normal range. The Tacoma has plenty of room up front to install it. It won't hurt anything, just be sure to wire it to a switched source so it will shut off when u shut the ignition off. I don't have one on my 2015 Tacoma but I just got it and will test it on the beach soon.

Followup. My son has a used Ford 250 that we put an electric in. Its mounted against the radiator in the front between the radiator and grille, pushing air through the radiator assy. The adjustable thermostat kicks in at 180 degrees F. Works great. It won't hurt anything if you don't have a thermostat and it runs all the time. It may take a little more time to warm up in winter. Just have it switch off with the ignition.

Idk what size is it? I just installed two 8" fans in front of the condenser for better ac cooling. Didn't seem to do much. It helps with faster cooling upon startup and idling, but not much. But again my fans are tiny. A bigger fan would probably have more benefit. As far as replacing the clutch fan, I would say it wouldn't be worth it. Unless a custom shroud is made to help pull in air from all around the radiator. Probably wouldn't be sufficient cooling with a single fan anyways. Not sure. But without a shroud and no clutch fan, it's only gonna be pulling in air from the diameter of that fan when it would be better to have it pull in air over the entire surface. But if you want a little better cooling out of your ac I would. And keep the clutch fan in. But, there isn't a whole lot of room either behind the grille. To sit it flush that is. You'd have to make a custom bracket. I barely fit in the 8" ones.Had to reposition the horn a little and reposition and tweak the ac line running across the condensor a little as well. So if that's a bigger fan, you're gonna have fun installing it. If it's got plastic rods for the install kit that go through the cendenser, don't use those. They are garbage. I unbolted the radiator and pushed it back so I could get my hands down there between the radiator and condenser, and used wire to tie it in permanently. But they were still a little loose.

Does your truck cool down fine now with the mechanical fan? If so why fix something that isn't broke? My fan clutch took a dump and i was going to get an electric to replace it, but i decided not to since i didnt want to replace something that simple and reliable with an electric that can take a dump randomly and without warning like electric tend to do. At least if the mechanical fan clutch dies the fan still pulls some air, where as the electric does not. I doubt the HP gains would even be noticeable ditching the mechanical fan.
