T-3 days until I head out for the Rubicon so I need to get some shit in order; basic maintenance, wash, and tool/parts check over. Pretty excited, it's my first time hitting the trail and something I've wanted to do for a long time.
    • grease drive shaft
    • change oil
    • torque driveshaft
    • rotate tires
    • top off windshield washer fluid
    • wash
    • clean out tool bag and ensure all tools are there
    • go through spare lubricants and parts
    • pick up spare CVs
    • glue CB handset holder
Of course I let everything go to the last minute :p Looking to spend some time in the garage tonight and get caught up hopefully.

Didn't get out last night to do any work since we had a rare torrential downpour that I drove around in to get all the mud off the undercarriage of the truck. Free car wash! This morning got out there and did some of the maintenance. Will probably finish it up tonight.

I got everything done this morning. Just need to hit up the store for some cervezas and then hit the road in the AM. Pics to come!

The Rubicon trip turned out awesome. Definitely some carnage to the body but the truck drove the three hours on the way home with no issues. I do need to get it aligned though.

The Auburn Jeep Club annual event was so much fun. They put on a great event with a ton of food, music, partying, and of course wheeling. They thought that the turnout this year was about 175 rigs and around 300 people. Pretty sure I was the only IFS in the camp.

They also said the trail was the most difficult its been in the last six years. Add some rain into the mix and you get some carnage. I'm pumped I got the taco through the trail but I will never run it again in an IFS truck, especially when I have the Mule. My build focus will move to this over the next few months after I get the taco back to normal :p

Here are some pics of the damage. I'll get the more scenic pics up after I pull them of the camera.

This was the first damage the truck got coming up out of Rubicon Springs via the old sluice. Probably the hardest part of the trail which took us about 3 hours to get 8 rigs through. Bill from Parts Mike would slap a sticker on the areas where there was damage as a joke. I think he ran out of stickers after a while.

This bent passenger slider also happened coming up through sluice.

Not sure where this happened but sheared off the LCA armor hardware.

Broke a weld and pushed in the driver's side 'wing' on the bumper 4" or so and dinged the fender. After this my flare was getting rubbed pretty bad at lock since the fender got pushed forward by the door seam so I just removed it.

Sliders took a beating but did what they're supposed to do. The biggest dent happened sliding of a rather large ledge in the rain.

I also flexed out while hitting the leaf shackle which caused one of the leafs to relocate under the shackle. This allowed more up travel which ended up popping part of the rear flare off so I removed that one too. I pulled up onto a rock to get the most droop out of it and then used a crow bar to get the leaf back where its supposed to be.

Both doors took a hit. This is the only shit I'm kinda bummed about. I was in a tight spot with a large drop up front and squeezed between a rock on the driver's side. I turned hard passenger to back up from the ledge and ended up tagging the rock. I could have avoided this hit with a little more finesse. Live and learn.

Driveshaft got a little love too but no vibrations on the way home so I think I'm good. Probably get it repaired at some point or use as a trail spare. And I'm not sure why it looks like shit is leaking out of my diff (maybe it is), I'm going to clean it up, check the fluid level and keep an eye on it.

    :oops::p
Yep. Needs a good bath, alignment, and then I'll start piecing back the rest of the parts.

Well, sounds like you had a good time! Sorry to see the damage though, but your right the armor performed as it was supposed to. I take it the only fix for the sliders are new ones?
