So I am about to buy a TracOne Universal Truck Rack from home depot after work today to hold my kayak. However I need to use it today and I don't have time to wait for the proper "tacoma mounting kit" to be delivered since it seems no stores carry it local.

Will I will rip out my side rails by temporarily securing this bed rack with regular old C-Clamps between the top of the rack and the bottom of the bed rail?

Welp, gave the regular c-clamps a shot and they worked like a charm for the whole 400 mile trip. Gonna buy the proper clamps for next time though.
