I've wheeled all sorts of stuff and never felt the desire for a solid axle. The amount of trails that you absolutely can not do with IFS seems really small, and if you have a rig that can do those trails, it's not as fun to do the others.

To each his own, but I think your rig's capable of much more. At least wheel the hell out of it before you jump to a more built rig.

Yeah that woukd be nice. But for the cost, I could buy a built crawler and keep the taco my daily :)
It's more than "if my rig will do it or not." I know the ifs will take me further than I've asked of it to date. But If I take the money I was contemplating spending on suspension upgrades on the taco in the coming years, I could be close to the sum of another rig. So.. Basically I can have my cake and eat it too :)

We shall see what happens down the line. For now I have a sweet rig and plenty of time to think about where I want to go. But for now, I'm happy where I'm at, and just gonna cruise.

Rack was heavier than I thought. Lost control on the way out. Luckily only a gouge and cracked light... 553912ba2d701f637915c8b688abf216_1b0c372f899eed7a34b6fc70d4e14235b17054f1.jpg

I did find my rake again though, lol. That plus the tent must be 250+ lbs.

That softtopper is awesome!! You should build a bed rack that goes on the outside of it

Indeed. I would prefer not to have the weight up high though. Brainstorming a rack with easily removable crossbars over a folded down softopper, that when removed allow the softopper to be deployed. Hmmmm, gotta chew on that one.

Did you have something in mind for what you might be getting in the future:popcorn:? I agree man your definitely pretty well setup.

Btw I found a weld on diff skid for the 8.4" diffs! I think it's from low range offroad and it's only 40$!

Not a clue, but id like a toyota truck. It would be really nice to grab a swapped 1st gen, but an older truck is fine too. Gonna be some time before I can afford anything like that anyways. like probably a few years. Just thinking big picture, sounds like a better route to go for me.

Here is an example, just for kicks:

Yeah man, trucks like this in the price range are pretty easily found around here. Anyways, more I think about it, more I like the idea. Can get my expo or my crawl on comfortably :)

As for regear on the taco, thinking 4.88 since for sure staying 33s, and also gonna come up with a way to keep the daily driving weight down. Looking into a pulley system to unload the rack and rooftop tent solo, or re design bed rack to make more manageable and allow for softopper rail to stay on full time.

Made space for tent and rack in garage, and easy to move alone with dolly. If I can figure out the loading and unloading of them from the truck, then I'm set

In the meantime, that softopper is legit. Definitely missed it.

Yeah, I don't think you'll regret it. You still looking for one used? Hope one pops up for you. Definitely nice to have some dry/shady storage. Only reason I almost sold it is because the rack and tent was hard to get off solo, but we're fixing that..

Borrowed the truck from wife, man do I miss it! She'll be able to drive her car again soon, thank god! Last week of the softopper for a bit, gonna pop the rack and tent on for slick rock next week.

Been lazy and haven't done much, still need to install fuse panel and finish shower system so it is plug and play (electrical switch instead of running alligator clips each time, route shower head hook up outside engine bay)
