Off Road Light Upgrade Help

So I just got a light bar (Toyota made) for the bed of my truck. The light bar has some old halogens that are dim at best. At first I thought I could maybe throw in some better led bulbs or and hid conversion but I'm a little lost to be honest: I've also considered throwing on some new lights entirely with different housings. Im a college student so I got a pretty tight budget. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? I'm a total noob when it comes to lighting. Prices seem to range from a little to a whole lot haha

 

depending on where you are going to college become friends with one of the electrical engineers and see if you can bribe them into making you something
