    Hey all
Installed Bilstein 6112s in May. The top nut is as tight as I can get it, but there is clearance between the bottom of the nut and the washer, such that I can move the washer up and down about 1/8 inch. Is this a problem?IMG_0860.jpg

Yes...there is a problem here..... the rubber washer should be squished out to the diameter of the metal washer..... you might need to get the nut down about 1/2 and inch more. If you have run out of threads, you might need some kind of spacer or thick washer.

there should be a rubber washer on the other side of the shock mount, if it's not there or damaged, you get what you're seeing there.

All washers present and accounted for. What's the downside on driving it like this?

Shaft of the shock is not secured and can move in the mount. Definately seems that something is missing.

    OK...
Is there anyone in the 909 (Upland) who can come over tomorrow or Monday and help me figure this out?

Question. Did the shock come with a boot? Would have a metal ring in the middle that would sit against an edge on the shock shaft.
    Boot-washer-rubber-top plate-rubber-washer-nut.
Not familiar with the 6112s, so I dot know if they have a boot or not.

Unfamiliar with 6112's. But with 5100's you hold the shaft with a wrench and tighten down.

Same with the 6112. That nut is tightened all the way.

Are both sides like that, or just the one?

I remember reading a post on the stock struts dust cover there is a thick washer that needs to be swapped over?

Makes me think that the washers/rubber bushings aren't right or there is something missing.

Pilot error, as usual. There is a washer missing.

    This is correct.

You don't have to use the boot if you don't like it, but you must still use the metal insert that is inside of the boot. Looks like it is missing.

Either the metal boot insert is missing or the lower Bushing is missing.
