    Hey guys,

I'm new here to the forum. I'm looking to upgrade my headlights to something that looks better and is brighter. I have projector housings (2008 4Runner, to be exact). I wondered what you guys have tried and liked. I know there are several types of kits out there on the market. I've found a few pretty good sites. The main one I've been looking at is www.headlightreviews.com. They seem to favor the Kensun branded kits. How much of a difference is there between brands? Are all aftermarket kits pretty similar?

    Thanks in advance!

Go with LEDs. They are brighter and give a better beam pattern than HIDs when installed in a halogen housing. http://www.motorfiend.com/SINGLE-BEAM-CREE-LED-Headlight-Kit/ I'm running the H11 kit in my Subaru. Funny thing is they drop-ship the product directly from the manufacturer... in China, but shipping took only 2 days total by DHL.

An HID drop-in kit maker is constrained with transplanting a pre-manufactured standard D1 or D2 bulb onto a halogen base, so they can't locate the arc center precisely in the same spot as the halogen bulb's filament. An LED bulb manufacturer has more freedom in designing the bulb. This is why LED bulbs give better results in a halogen housing.

For comparison, I ran the Motor Fiend LED bulb in my Subaru's driver's side headlight, and an HID bulb in the passenger's side headlight. The LED bulb gives noticeably brighter light output and better beam pattern. Both my Subaru and the 2008 4Runner use H11 bulbs.

He has projectors and if you look at all the guys on here complaining on how long the LEDs last I wouldn't recommend them
