Has anyone Modified their stock LCA to accommodate dual shocks? or know of someone who has? Im thinking this may be a more effective way to run dual shocks for mid travel.

You'd probably just need a welder with custom shock mounts to fit whatever dual shocks you plan on putting in there most people don't run dual shocks with mid travel just long travel

I think it would be pretty easy just to add a couple tabs and maybe some gussets on them. However there are plenty of people who have the stock length aftermarket LCA for dual shock capability. I would say its definitely not just a LT thing but I agree its definitely more common.

Im not to sure yet, just pondering the idea to see if anyone else has seen or attempted this. if i were to do it it would be to function just as a total chaos LCA replacement.

not worth it and no function at all. twice the amount doesnt mean twice the dampening. serves no purpose, just save your money.

Don't you think it would be worth it if you could run bypasses in the front? Seems like it would function well to me and be a lot cheaper than buying an aftermarket LCA.

aftermarket arms gives you more travel. two similar shocks are the same. just upgrade the strut you have on right now. the only purpose to use two shocks is if you run air shocks to control lifting or lowering, and then the second one just a regular shock to control dampening. check out the shocks on monster trucks. thats why they have more than one. each one has its own functions. or on some drag cars, the shocks either raise or lower to give a better launch.

thats why two dampening shocks are a waist of money. spend it on a long or mid travel kit as it would be better.

It sounds like you need to do your research... Im not trying to build a monster truck or a drag car but thanks for your input.

These skid plates allow you to use the Secondary Shock System that Icon offers while using your stock lower control arms and adding skid protection at the same time. [IMG]

I can't seem to find any pictures of it installed, from the pictures I can find it looks like theres only one tab on that skid. Theres gotta be more to it than that on the LCA part ( I know theres a dual shock mount too) because theres no way the shock would be in single shear on the lower mount.

    Terrible idea.

    Here's why: 6d536b819216b14f6d2799539fa52973_f3dd40e39f4ca4adfe438bb1528b77a667c97ef1.jpg

At the end of the day if you can afford a high dollar bypass set up meant to go fast no need to skimp on the LCA which there are a few stock width options. (That are cheaper then bypasses! )

Coming from a guy who has dual shocks I am going to have disagree with you immensely. Since the upgrade I have nothing but upped not only my offroad comfort, but overall confidence out there. I could take washboards, jumps, G outs and high speed play like you wouldn't believe it. It has essentially turned the truck into a whole new vehicle offroad and the on road manners have not chaned a bit. Matter of fact, they improved as well. This thing could actually keep up with the entry level LT vehicles. It's all about the valving and how it's set up on each shock. This thing thing just absorbs all the hits and keeps asking for more.

Now, would it be worth it to incorporate a dual shock setup using stock? No. The stock arms are weak, and prone to damage over time with the use involved with offroad play. Could you do it? Sure. Again though. It wouldnt be worth it unless you have high strength boxed arms.

You should had just asked me from the get go Griff!

Exactly. Yes to dual shocks, no to running them with stock LCA. You will not be able to use them to their full potential if you use the stock LCA's.

Ok thank god those stock LCAS are chinsy as hell had mine pulled off at 12 miles and was amazed at how flimsy the metal was

Totally agree with you. I kept my mouth shut on that guys post because I had nothing nice to say to someone that is absolutely clueless to a dual shock setup. My front is smooth as butter and I have no complaints. Someday I'll get my rear done so I can fully enjoy how good the front really is.
