Hello, I own a 2006 Toyota Tacoma Double cab with the naked roof. Looking for the best and most inexpensive roof rack system to carry a kayak. Thanks...

    Welcome.

Best and least expensive isn't realistic. You can find a secondhand Yakima or Thule bar setup and make it work, build your own bed setup out of lumber like several have done for short money, or you can lean it against the cab and rope it down at the front and rear.

Depends on how long your boats are and how much you care about proper transport.

I went with the factory rack after having a Thule rack and I couldn't be happier!

Depends on what you're using it for. If it's just a kayak, the OEM one will do just fine for that, and can be had reasonably cheap. I bought one used from someone here on TW, and that's what I use it for.

The thread below has a little bit of info I was sharing with another member about the OEM rack, as well as a couple other opinions.
