Okay so I've ordered some new 5100 Bilstein shocks for my DCSB TRD Off-road Tacoma. I figure I might as well replace the stock springs with some new/slightly used OEM shocks. Considering I don't off-road and I'm looking for a smooth ride, could I replace my progressive coils with the linear ones found on an SR5 or Sport model? I know I can purchase some OME 883 for a tad more and not have to preload the coil, but I prefer sticking to Toyotas design. Is it safe to perform this and will the ride quality improve from those progressive. I'd appreciate any comments, but looking for someone who has done this.
