So my truck is a 2012 4cyl SR5 Access Cab 4X4, and I only have 17,000 miles on it thanks to a 2 mile round trip too and from work, The truck is stored in a heated garage and washed every week. I noticed this earlier this week. Is this rust normal. seems to be kinda odd looking. The leaf Springs on the 2001 Ranger I owned before never looked like this. I have owned the truck since new. I do some very light off roading, and nothing recently so I know it cant be from that. this is the drivers side. the passenger side is rusting but not as bad.

looks more like mud more than rust. Bust that crap off with a wire wheel or wire brush or steel wool ext and paint them. If it is rust take it out now before it gets worse.

Get a new 4-leaf spring under the Tacoma TSB.

No, but he has the older 3-leaf, which under certain circumstances can be upgraded to the 4-leaf.
