Driver side mirror fold in option, safety hazard

Since I have owned my 2007, the driver side mirror had about an inch of play in it. So when you drive 60mph+, the mirror wiggles with the wind turbulence making the reflection not visible..........kind of a safety hazard.

I have taken the entire mirror assembly apart to paint it about a year ago so I know all hardware is installed, just the mirror has to much play in it with the fold in option. I never fold in the mirrors so it can't be "worn out". Anyone have this issue? Any fixes?
