Front bilstein 5100 with OME 884 w/trim pack, 17" fuel trophy wheels wrapped with 32" toyot open country m/t, bakflip fibermax tonneau cover, Avec 30" led light bar behind lower grille, marathon seat covers in max 5 camo pattern, trimmed front and rear mud flaps, more to come.
i have a 14 sport with OME 884/billy 5100 to level my truck out. No plans on lifting it anymore so my question is would replacing the rear shocks increase ride quality at all. I know the sports come with the billy 4600 I believe but is there another billy shock I could put on there to give it better response or dampening however you want to say it. I was planning on matching the rears with 5100's because I really like the ride quality of the front but people have told me they are meant for rear lifts only. I do use my truck for stuff around the house so there are times there is weight in the back. Just wouldn't want to put those on and end up bottoming them out on stock rear suspension. Me personally I think the 5100 would be fine but Any input would be greatly appreciated.

5100 is just fine. I have them on all 4 corners. No complaints.

You won't bottom them out if you get the proper size/length......

Did you notice a difference in ride quality with just changing the rear shocks?

I don't remember accurately enough to really say, but I believe it was an improvement.

I did when I put the 5100's in the rear. Less jumpy per se.

So correct me if I'm wrong do they only sale one length 5100 for the rear for our trucks? If I'm wrong what length would I need on a stock rear set up?

I was thinking of replacing the springs as well but my truck set the way I want it right now. Almost completely level. Just didn't want to start changes things and have to change more things to get the stance back to where I am now. Might just end up changing the bump stops and shocks. Which I just ordered wheelers super bumps for the front last night!

Here's what I've learned about rear 5100's that most do not pay attention to. The stock replacements 5100's, be it for a tacoma, or tundra (extended length) Carry a lifetime replacement. Why? They use the factory top mount. 5125's or other to accommodate a substantial lift only carry a 90 day warranty. They're considered a custom application because you need a conversion bracket to mount the top of the shock. There's a lot of piece of mind in a lifetime warranty of a shock if you accidentally crash into a huge pot hole or overload your bed and the shock blows. So if you don't do heavy off-roading, only drive trails, the beach, fire roads, go to lowes, why not buy the oem replacement and modify the bump stops? Standard length 5100's still accommodate an inch or two of lift.

I do do some hauling of dirt and bark for stuff around the house and have noticed some residue on the stock shock. That is where my interest came in changing to the 5100. I know some of the residue is road grim but I do know what a shock looks like when it has been leaking. It's not terrible by no means but for what little loads I have put in the bed the shocks should still look like new. My original question about if the 5100 would work with stock height is because I have read different stuff a out uses of them. IE can use with 0-1.5 inch of life to for use with lifted trucks. So I guess 5100's it will be. A cheap upgrade and a piece of mine with the warranty! Thanks for the help guys. And will be going through wheelers because of the best price I have found for a pair! Other want almost the same amount for just one shock.
