    I can see there might be an issue with the emissions requirements, but other than that you don't think Toyota down under's
    safety requirements are the same as Toyota USA? The Hilux base body design looks a lot like the Tacoma.

    Look into getting one from Mexico. http://www.toyota.com.mx/homevehiculo/vehiculos-comerciales-y-pick-ups/hilux/

    The mexican ones will be right hand drive, so that'll make driving it a bit more comfortable. Plus mexico is a lot closer than Australia, so actually transporting it across the border might be easier. Although I think no matter what you're going to be in for a bureaucratic nightmare.
