image.jpg I have a 2000 TRD with a Fabtech 6" lift. I recently replaced my rear shocks and they are dented from the leaf springs. I took it out on the trail and it looks like at about 4 inches of travel it impacts the shock housing. I'm trying to figure out if this is common with this lift or if my mechanic bought the wrong shocks? And or should I care it's happening?

Any issues from it? Have you found a solution to the truck "bucking" everytime it hits a bump? I've been told a 7 series leaf spring will cushion the ride...?

I just let it happen, no issues yet. I've never really had a "bucking" issue so, no. A leaf with more leafs will generally give a better ride, yes.

Figured I'd update everyone. I flipped my shocks to "body down". Fixed the rough ride. Then I machined some spacers to the specs in the link and it fixed the problem. Cheap and easy to deal with. Thanks for the help!

Funny I never noticed you had your shocks body up in your pic. But mine are body down just like you have yours now and they still dent just like yours did with body up. So i wouldnt expect them to not. That's pretty weird you gained a better ride by flipping your shocks.

The fluid shift in the shock is what helped the ride. The spacers I had fabricated will stop the contact with the leaf springs.

"Cellular" shocks like that are intended to be body down and will not function as well if upside down. The bodies are double wall with the fluid reservoir between the walls. The outer wall can tolerate some denting.
