    like, towed? ......as in tandem/behind another vehicle?it is not advised, especially for a 4x4 vehicle. you would have to remove the front and rear shafts, or something like that. it would be best if all 4tires would be off of the ground, when towing.

    welcome to the forum, btw.

    If it was a MANUAL, I'd suggest the follows;

    If you want to do it the redneck way, transfer case in 2wd, transmission in 4th gear, and a stick holding the clutch down.

    I wouldn't recommend it though, much better to remove the rear driveshaft from the differential. You can hang the shaft rather than fully removing it. The rest of the equation is to leave the transfer case in 2wd, transmission in 1st gear, and the clutch released.

    Rationale: The transmission is lubricated by an oil pump attached to the *input* shaft, so flat towing with the transmission out of gear means no lubrication. Normally, this problem can be solved by leaving the transfer case out of gear, except that ours doesn't have a neutral option.

    However, being an automatic, what I can suggest is this;
    2wd with the transmission in neutral. Check with someone who knows the automatic transmission to see if the oil pump ties into the output shaft. If it does, you are good to tow. If it does not, then you need the following two steps;

    1) Remove rear drive shaft as specified above.
    2) Immobilize the front drive shaft. You don't want it turning, and some small amount of force will be applied by the front differential, even with the ADD disconnected.

    what if you put the truck in neutral and the t-case in neutral? or can you not do that on second gens?

    Transfer case has no neutral.
    Manual CANNOT be flat towed with the transmission in neutral since it will not be lubricated.
    I don't know the automatics well enough to say if it would be lubricated in neutral or not.
