I was wondering if there any blackout headlight/tail light covers available for the newer Tacomas (i.e. a 2014) that are made from the hard plastic (like AVS makes) not the vinyl stick on ones. I like the blacked out look, but would like the option of taking them off if need be. Thanks!

Seriously??? Where are you from? Those are illegal to have on your headlights in most places, and sorry kind of juvenile. Check Fleabay

AVS is the only one that I know of that makes "plastic" covers for the tail lights. And remember 05+ is all the same tail lights and third brake light.

As far as the headlights go you are limited to film or doing a retrofit and painting the houses black. I really do not recommend putting any film or spray style tints over your headlights. It will block a very, dangerous amount of light output. Even a light tint will block enough to be noticeable.

This is what I would recommend if you want a safe blacked out look without killing your light output and staying legal.

Retrofitted headlights. This is Andrews old truck from the Retrofit Source. If your curious into going this route, I strongly suggest to give him a shout

Yeah dude, not a good idea to tint or cover your headlights. Your life depends on the light output they provide. The BHLM is super cheap, looks great, and doesn't diminish your light output.

and this 3rd brake light to go with BHLM and those tails above..............

........just splice on the plug from the old light where it'll still unplug with new light instead of cutting on the cab harness side to splice.

I was wondering about the covers because you could take them off at night or when you needed the light; I had them on another vehicle and that's what I did.

I'm considering the bhlm, but am a little leery about taking the housing apart.

Not really sure why everyone is jumping down the OP's throat. I used to run those on my Blazer. Took them off at night, ran them during the day or at the ORV park.

Call AVS. They are real nice to deal with. Lost one doing some offroading and they sent me out a new one no questions asked. I'm sure they can tell you where to find them, they also sell direct.

Buy yourself a set of Depo replacement's and attempt those first. It's really not that hard and you'll have your oem's set aside as a backup. Plus you'll have no down time

Yeah I feel like the black headlight mod is nice with a set of led bulbs. I really like the look if the all black housings and a retrofit. But, I've been there and done it. Won't do it again though lol best of luck on your decision
