Another problem. Brake lights don't turn on, parking solenoid has to be manually triggered.

As the title says, yesterday I realized I couldn't get out of park and had to pull the switch on the center console to switch into gear. I realized when I got home that my brake lights did not come on either. The brake lights share the same lights as my blinkers and hazards and those both work so I know the wiring and lights are ok.
The fuse WAS blown (15A, I believe) and I replaced that but nothing changed.
I also spent all day messing with the brake switch under the dash to no avail, even trying a new one from autozone, so we can rule that out.
I have just finished taking apart the center console and verified that no voltage change is detected on the two pins leading to the parking break solenoid, and I was able to manually trigger it with a 12V power supply.
It seems obvious to me that the problem lies between the brake switch and the gear lever, but it seems like the only thing between the two is the main computer (ECM?) which is not good, and not cheap.

I have a schematic planned out involving a few relays that will allow everything to work properly, but I'd like to see if there is anything else I can try first. Thanks

Same thing happened to me when I hooked up to an improperly wired trailer. Check the interior fuses. I can't remember what fuse it is off the top of my head or if it's the same cause I have a 2004, but when I changed the fuse everything went back to working

If you have aftermarket trailer wiring check that too!

    There's fuses behind the seats??
The wiring is fine. Where else are fuses besides to the bottom left of the steering wheel?

Inside the truck behind the carpet on the drivers side rear wall there is a black box with a fuse that controls your rear lights and trailer lights. Check that as it's probably blown.

I've taken that whole panel off before and there's nothing like that at all back there on my '99. All I know of like that is a grey box under my seat for the alarm..

That's cause your trailer wiring is aftermarket. The only fuses I know of are the ones to the left of the steerin wheel and the ones that are inside the engine bay
