Bought my new Tacoma last Saturday and just did the first mod. Added a backup cam.

    Got it from here:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0108J3T7I?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Literally just took the tailgate inner liner off and pulled the factory cable from the mounting point to the undercarriage just below the tailgate and replaced it with the supplied cable. Just a matter of opening 4 plastic clips (2 routing clips, and 2 bulkhead clips).

Prettied up the wiring and started up and the cam came on right away as soon as I went in reverse. Saved some money and had a little fun.

Worst part of the thing if there was a worst part was just the fear of getting a scratch on my beautiful new truck. Easy to do. Took me about 40 minutes and 10 of those minutes were spent getting tools and such ready.

I bought a base access w/convenience package and that's all. No camera but all the wiring was in place. Dealer wanted $750 to put one in

Same here...I thought they were required by law on all 2015s. Shows what I know.

By 2017 all vehicles are required to have a backup cam from the factory

I believe by 2018 they have to make them standard on all vehicles
