Brand new transmission rebuild differential 4.10 gears in the back and a recent front end rebuild. I own a 95.5 Tacoma with the same engine that I have Outback for parts I have heard that certain parts will switch over with no problem to 8100 from Tacoma.
I recently had a wreck and got a DUI charge, im hoping test results come back with little alcohol and the best case scenario comes from that. Anyway, damage was done to my 95.5 because of a wreck. On the front bumper, right on the passenger side frame/bumper support causing that frame rail to be pushed back a bit. I have full coverage insurance but didn't think insurance would cover any accident involving a DUI. I found out that they would. Before knowing this I had my truck towed to a frame shop to have it straightened out and back right, $400. My question is, should I pay for that out of pocket since I chose to repair it myself at first and now that insurance is involved they want to hassle me over doing repairs before contacting them? My truck is ready for body parts to be put on but still at the frame shop. I would like to get it home and deal with insurance on my own turf. So, leave it at the shop or pay and bring it home? The adjuster is coming to look and make a decision Tuesday. If they will cover all repairs I still would rather pay up front and have it home and be reimbursed later. Has anyone ever had to deal with a situation similar to this where they made repairs and then called insurance? Either way I'm keeping my Tacoma and fixing it.

I would not have the insurance company involved at all. Consider it a stupidity tax. Regardless, rates are going up.

I fix all my own vehicles, it's not that hard to put a Tacoma back together.

In the long run you are probably right. But now that insurance has been contacted should I tell them to fuck off and drop coverage? That's all I know to do since they have been contacted already.

I'd call them and tell them you are fixing it yourself.
