Generally speaking, an unusual hum or high speed 'waawaawaawaa' type of noise from the corner under load is indicative of a wheel bearing failure. That is turning left causes the noise on the right, the higher the suspension load on that corner the greater the noise. This will happen regardless of engine load, it can show the symptom going around a corner at moderate speed in neutral.

This differs from a cv joint failure where it is more of a fluttering noise and may be first noticeable while cornering under engine load, that is the joint is under load from acceleration not the suspension load.

I've experienced both several times but none in a Toyota.

Had it checked out at the dealership today....it's the driver's side bearing that's bad. Fully covered under my Toyota Platinum extended warranty.
