Hey guys Im looking at getting my windshield done tommorow and I was wondering if any of you guys have done it. I have suntech 18% all around and I can't decide if I want to do 35% or 50%. I had 27% on my old truck, but now I'm getting worried about being ticketed.

Considering its illegal and unsafe you probably aren't going to get the best responses here. :crapstorm:

    Why so dark?
Darkest legal tint in my area is 28% everywhere except windshield, and only tint to the AS1 line.
3M has a good tint they designed for windshields at 90% transparency (it's also available darker) and it's supposed to cut heat by 50% or more.

50% is the absolute lowest I would go. Below that and you are destined to run over a pedestrian.

    Use your head. Please.

You haven't been in the right conditions then.

We all know what 20% tint looks like at night, and 35% tint. Neither is appropriate for a windshield.

If you tint anything that is designed for clear vision like windshield, headlights and tail lights you are at fault when in a accident.

You endanger others and makes you look like a douche.

    Congrats.

Unless you have a medical condition requiring a fully tinted front windshield, Maryland only legally allows any sort of tint on the top 5 inches of the windshield. So to answer your question, you should not get any windshield tint. Also, the front windows can only be tinted to a max of 35%.

    But thanks for coming out.

Darkest I would go is 85 if glare really bothers you. I may do 85-90% for the 50% heat reduction.

Mine is tinted very lightly. Can barely tell from the inside. Makes a big difference on heat and it's nice knowing UV Rays are at a minimum on the dash, seat covers etc. Go with a very light tint or don't do it at all.

35% if your doing the whole shield. anything darker is a bit too much. i have it on my tacoma and my c300. Windshied is slanted so it'll look darker than what it really is but from the inside you'll be fine. Ive never had issues seeing at night nor has my gf and she complained about it until she actually drove at night and didn't even notice a difference.

    None of that is relevant.

You need to be familiar with the laws in your area. I really don't know of any state that allows a windshield to be tinted much over 15% without a doctors note. Federal standards I think are around 30% or 70% VLT.
To me, tinting isn't what is important, but UV ray protection. A darker tint doesn't = better UV protection. It's nice to have some privacy, but standard tints now give you that.

Plus do you really want to go with a company that will illegally tint your windows?
Do you REALLY think they will do a good job and stand behind a warranty?
Lets think about this for a brief moment.

While I feel a bit silly now, methinks the OP is a bit confused on his own location. His own profile links to Columbia, MD

I love it when people who don't hear what they want to hear get in a snit about their 'welcome', particularly in an open forum that cost them nothing.

But in this case the question is really one that doesn't need to be asked. Comply with the laws of your state and you won't have to worry about a ticket.
