    Considering I don't have a tow strap at all might as well go overkill. I'm fine with spending the extra money for the 5% of the time in need it. My last recovery I needed itimage.jpg

    You hook a tow strap to that S10 and you're break your hitch. I used my snatch rope. I have a snatch rope, snatch strap, tow strap, and a tree strap. Have used everything. To get a vehicle out of deep mud or sand you need something that stretches. Especially if the vehicle is axled and/or framed out. It's easier on the vehicles, safer, and the kinetic energy from the stretch actually helps pull the vehicle out. When you use a real snatch rope it's a night and day difference between it and a cheap tow strap. I use my snatch rope more then anything in my kit

    I've been called to come get a truck out where they broke 2 tow straps trying to snatch with them. They left to go get chains of all things. I got my rope out and had the truck out in 5 minutes

    Granted I have no experience with snatch straps or snatch ropes but the tow strap does have a decent amount of stretch and Ive never broke one on any recovery ive been a part of.

    What recovery gear do you keep in your truck? I have a 10' and a 30' tow strap, 3 15ft chains, 3 shackles, and a winch

    It's a night a day difference. A tow strap has 0 stretch. Snatch straps and ropes do, ropes stretch more. I can get a good running start with a rope. If I did the same with a tow strap it would yank my hitch off. Plus the kinetic energy from the stretch helps the recovery. I carry a tree strap, tow strap, snatch strap, snatch rope, assorted shackles, shackle hitch, and a piece of chain with a hook. I actually need to get another 3/4 shackle for my kit. I have not yet broken a tow strap but have seen plenty of them snap.

    I usually get a running start with my strap and it does stretch, unlike a chain or cable and I dont think it would rip your hitch off....
