I'm interested in knowing, too. I replaced my license plate 194 bulbs with Sylvania LED's, and really like them. I also replaced the 194 bulbs in the map lights. I couldn't find a Sylvania dome light replacement, so I tried a Pilot brand and it seems pretty good.

Dont let the blue tint of 6000k fool you into thinking they are better lights.

Preferably you would run ~ 4500k for better vision.

Personally i run some 35W GY6 bulbs commonly found at the hardware store.... 5 bucks a piece, and are real nice and bright for reverse lights.

EDIT: canceled my order once I found out there was only one in the package. Don't need them that bad

Is this plug and play. Or do resistors or something need to be added?

I also just did the drivers side map light with a sylvania white LED (Amazon link below- I purchased locally from advance auto). Plug and play. TONS brighter than stock. Very happy with it.

I did the passenger side map light with a generic incandescent 194 in red for night time vision if I ever need a little light while driving.

Pilot brand blue LED in the dome light (also from advance auto).

I ordered the 921 bulbs today. I'll post something about them when I've had a chance to try them.

Great. Several of the Amazon reviews look favorable. seems to me like the placement of the diode more closely mimics that of an incandescent bulb- compared to other LED's out there - which makes me wonder if it makes better use of the reflectors than other LED's. The Sylvania I put in my map light is crazy bright. I'm hoping they will come out with a 921 in the same bulb (zevo series), but it's not out there yet (they are osram's). Anxious to hear your thoughts on the Philips. I feel like I should be tossing you a few bucks for taking the chance!

Regarding this^^ awhile back I put silver star 921's in my reverse lights. Although not any brighter, my back up camera picks up the whiter light much better. The improvement isn't huge, but it is definitely an improvement. Well worth the few bucks.

Lol. You can toss me a few bucks if you really want, but we're here just to help each other out, and to learn. I'm new to Taco's and I'm learning a lot. Going to contribute and help some, too.

I love my truck and how there are so many mods for it. Coming from a Nissan Frontier, I miss a few things and think if we merged the two trucks it would be awesome.

I generally like Silver Star bulbs. I use them on my BMW motorcycle as headlight and fog light bulbs. Though, I always wonder how a bulb with the same wattage can be brighter than another.

Here is the 921 on the actual Philips website... Just thought I'd pass it along.

I've read that they "over-drive the filament" in the bulbs to make them brighter (whatever that means, thus, the shorter bulb life). I'm wondering if it happens like this--- let's say on a scale of 1 to 10, 8 is the DOT legal limit for brightness (a stock, uncoated clear bulb). in a bulb like the silver star, they over-drive the filament creating a brightness of 10. then they coat it in blue, filtering out some wavelengths of light, which dims the output back down to an 8. but it's now a white light due to the filter. same brightness as stock, but appears much brighter because it's a purer white light (no yellow/orange to make it look dimmer).

I could be way off (I probably am), but this is my understanding of what's happening.

Interesting, I've never seen it explained before. So, remove the coating, to get a truly brighter bulb, but loose the color filtering?

yeah that's how I understand it. scrape the dark blue band off the silverstar and I think you'd likely be illegal. it would be the same "color" as stock (in theory) but much brighter. but really, it would still probably be quite white due to the amount of energy in the filament. again, this is just a guess based on what I've been reading.
