Is it possible? And if so would I want be able to swap the MAF as well? I know they use different ones so if not I'm assuming I could just put the airbox in and keep the same MAF and tubing.

Asking because I have an oiled filter and want to go back to stock dry replaceable filter and intake.

I don't know why it wouldn't work. My wife has 1998 4 cylinder, I have 1998 and 2004, v6. The air boxes look the same and use the same filter.

The 1996 MAF was different so I'm not sure if it will work since it may have a different connection or use a different way of computing the optimal air since its not the same MAF. I may be overthinking it lol

    So.

The air boxes are the same for all years, the MAF is the only difference. Why can't you use your MAF?

I can but I wasn't sure if it would fit on a newer airbox. If what you're saying is that I can use my current MAF on a 2002 airbox then that is what I shall do. Most thanks oh knowledgeable one.

Give me five minutes to double check. I'll compare my wife's MAF to my v6 MAF. Hers has the same MAF as you I have, mine has the newer style. Stand by.

I think I got mixed up. The air boxes are different. On the 4 cylinder the air tube is bolted to the box, on the v6 the air tube is clipped.

I was referring to v6 engines when stating the air boxes are the same. My old 1998 v6 is the same as my newer 2004 v6. The boxes were the same even tho they used the 2 different MAF sensors. I know this does not help, but thought it would be worthwhile to put in print.

not just that, the filters are different size and shape and the 4 cylinder box splits in half where the v6 box just has a door flap that opens to replace filters

I cant be certain, but the air duct tube may even be slightly bigger for the v6

trhats right, get one from a truck with a 4 cylinder if that's what you have. K's first picture above is of the 4 cylinder one, the second picture is the v6 box.

you should also notice the air duct design and shape is also completely different

Ok cool, I have a v6 so I'll be on the lookout for that. Thanks again!
