Factory single disc cd player no longer works. When I load a disc the display flashes "load" for ten seconds or so then spits the disc back out. When it first started doing this I could reload the cd or choose another and load it and it would start playing but now it rejects them all.

I suppose it's probably time to go aftermarket but I thought I would check with the TW experts first in case there might be something I could try to get it working again.

Any help or suggestion on whether this is fixable?

Don't know about the singles, but the multi player in my wife's Subaru jammed up and I painstakingly took the thing apart to find one jammed in there. I got it out and put it all back together, and amazingly the thing works. I found a step by step vid online. Next time it happens though, it's aftermarket time.

    Um...Yeah, I've got them, why wouldn't I use them?

Heck, I've got one of these too, and I use it frequently. I guess I'm just kind of old fashioned that way.

You can have my old one for the cost of shipping if you want. It worked fine when I removed it.

I love my new double din DVD/CD unit. I've got a front and rear camera(front is worthless) plus BT streaming. The stock speakers(I'm assuming)sound waaaay better with the higher powered aftermarket unit.

Pioneer AVH-X3700BHS is what I got. I'm not a huge music/stereo guy but it was a nice upgrade for me.

The CD laser, facing upwards, collects dust over time.

You could try one of those CD brush-type cleaners that you just insert like a regular CD for a few seconds. Or, take apart the unit and clean the lens with a Q-Tip.

Don't bother with getting another CD player, IMO. I swapped my double din stock '00 tacos stereo with a single din JVC KD-R740BT, never really use the cd player! I stuck "The Crow" soundtrack in there just to make sure it worked after installing it 2 years ago, still in there. But now I only use my galaxy s4's bluetooth connection to play music. I have all of my CDs ripped and on a 16gig sd card that is in my phone. Even then, i don't listen to that music. I payed for an annual subscription to pandora and just listen to that since my cd player has pandora controls on the head unit. no ads, high fidelity, and hands-free calling!

Did the same thing for my girlfriends car. Got her a Pioneer MVH-X370BT and both our phones are hooked up via bluetooth with pandora. We just listen to music from pandora, that's it...

    Nice turntable!

If you change head unit get some new speakers while you are at it. Well worth the upgrade.
