2 in spacer lift front 2, in AAL rear [tundra leaf] , flip up tow mirrors, ARE shell electric brake controller and cooper ATP 265/r70x16 tires on stock TRD wheels
It limits how far the trans can move on the mount limits the stretch of the mount rubber to prevent tearing

its to stop the tranny from lifting too high, its like a different version of a bump stop.

on my 99 it was rattling and making noises so I wrapped a bunge around it to shut it up

its part of the tranny mount and it has to be there

had me scratching my head for a while until someone told me what it was and why it was there

Thanks for the quick responses! What would be the proper adjustment for this concerning the transmition?

there is no "adjustment" for it, the tranny sits loosely in the mount and this holds it in place and stops it from lifting to high but lets it be able to move around "some" as the engine and drivetrain move.

it seams strange the tranny isn't secured with fixed mounts that hold it from moving but that's how its designed

mine used to sound like a damn bell ringing under there when it idled rough

Keakar, thank you very much for the clear explanation. I completely understand and appreciate your knowledge on the subject of my question.

I chased that bell gremlin for a full month and was about to hacksaw the damn thing off till a guy showed me you can push the tranny up and it moves.

had I cut it off and hit a big bump, its possible the tranny could hit the floorboard or even worse, come out of alignment with things when it laid back down

I think its just something for the 4 cylinder automatics, my 99 2.4 had it but my 04 3.4 v6 tranny doesn't have that type of mount

If the trans was hard mounted and the engine on rubber mounts then you would break either the trans housing or the motor mounts.

thanks, I figured there must have been a good reason why it was made to move around or they wouldn't have designed it to
