I don't see myself putting a lift on the truck. The spare having air is one of the main things that I have run into with spare tires. I might just have too much time to think of the contingency of "what if". I have already removed the tire and the spare holder.

I always plugged and re-aired the tires when I got a puncture (many times, with the BFG Rugged Fails). I only once used the spare in the past dozen years to get from my house to the tire dealer when the patched tire didn't hold air... about 5 miles. Under the bed is far superior than in the bed, in a hole, because you would have to unload the truck to get to it. Not everyone drives a truck empty all the time. Unless you drop in a ditch with your flat rear tire, you can still lower the spare to get at it with a flat back tire. Flats are indeed so rare now, it is really nothing to worry about (most of the time)!

Honda Ridgeline has a unique setup. The spare is under a hatch that's in the bed. Cool thing about it is, it's pushed forward on a shelf and there's a large well under there for storage. Can fit a cooler or tools under there. And it locks.
    Nice feature.

Pretty much. Yeah, they get dirty, but I hit mine with the hose when I wash the truck. My biggest gripe is trying to get the circular piece into the pulley system that lets it down. That's always a hassle. The cutout in the bed would be handy if the lid over the top had enough strength built into it, but that wouldn't work for the oversize tire.

I would love to get a flat and have to pull a motorcycle or two out of the bed to get to the spare.

That is because they know that it only has a 5 foot bed and the chances of a ridgeline owner putting something in it are pretty much zero.
