97 Tacoma 4x4

My son blew the motor in his truck and finally found a used motor to put back in it. They're 2.7l and the original motor has the coil packs on the side of the head and new one has the coils packs that slip into the valve cover. They're is no distributer on old motor all electronic. Is the coil pack compatible?
