I saw it, looks like the rain is breaking people down. A few replies back Chiefcrunchy said they only made 9 episodes, most likely cause it's a new show, I think typically there are around 13 shows in a season. He said one person goes home each week until 2 are left.

I think they are just editing out a lot of stuff due to the show being brand new and being limited to 9 episodes. You do make a valid point though, so far the only one I see that is actually putting survivor/bushcraft skills to use is Mitch.

He's the only one that had a brain to make char bark with his tin. Lucas is just a hipster in lumber jack clothing. Sam....shit his method of getting water is to use his tarp and a fallen tree to collect water, I'm not that confident in his outdoor ability.

I think it's gonna be Mitch and Alan at the end. I initially said mit h was gonna win but now I'm leaning towards Alan. He's the only grown man that hasn't cried yet, I think,

Dustin tapped out. Seems that being alone is really getting to these guys. Guess they weren't prepared for that, Sam lost it when he started thinking about home. Trying to out last others versus waiting to be rescued changes the mental approach to the situation. We have become very social and are unprepared to live like the mountain men of the nineteenth century. Jeremiah Johnson they are not.

It seems most are unwilling, even more than they are unprepared.

For those familiar with the area, it seems like they are on the Mahatta River. It appears Sam is right at Winter Harbour. The Google satellite photo shows maybe cars right at the top of the beach. Am I mistaken?

If it were me, I might have a lot more tolerance if I knew I only had to walk the right 300 ft if something really bad happened. OTOH, it could be a lot more tempting to head for the nearest house at my first craving for gummi bears.

I'm not that familiar with the area, but I was thinking about the show today. So far there have been 5 episodes. The first 20-30 minutes is about all the guys and how they miss home, next 5 minutes shows the person going home.

I really want to see more of the stuff they do day to day, survival/bushcraft stuff. I'm kinda getting sick of the bitching, and home sicknesses rants.

I bet Sam is next to go home.

Unfortunately, I think the American/western focus on drama in our entertainment causes successful producers to leave out those details and focus on the moments when the wash-outs psych themselves out. Reminds me of having a vascular spasm from Raynaud's syndrome during scuba certification--it was all mental.

If there is a second season, I'd expect more able competitors, but in a very different environment throwing them off their games.

Wondered if sheer youthful exuberance and stupidity might enable Sam to remain longer than he should (with a wife who was 7 months pregnant at that start). While Alan is clearly very skilled, Mitch's local knowledge may enable him to last longest (if it doesn't go too long).

Just don't let anyone else miss his little girl's birthday. Criminy!

Mitch is from Maine. All the guys on the show have youtube channels about survival/bushcraft, but like you said they focused more on the drama and rants. I just think Mitch is the most leveled headed out of all of them, he's actually putting his skills to use.

Joe lost his ferro rod, which is the most rookie move considering his channel. Everyone else got scared off by animals. Well Brandt drank the brackish water, and Dustin just gave up.

Personally if there is a next season i'd like to see fewer competitors, maybe 5. That way they can focus on the contestants day to day stuff. I like the show, but all I hear is the bitching and crying.

If they have a season 2, with 10 people and 13 episodes one person would have to go home almost every week. Make it 5 people and show how they actually survive in the wilderness, maybe show them hunting, foraging, etc.

Finally got caught up. I'm still saying Alan for the win.

Lucas'(?) canoe is pretty cool. If nothing else, at least he is keeping himself busy and has something fun to do.

I agree with you about doing stuff to take your mind off things and developing a routine, I have a feeling that canoe will be Lucas' demise.

Yeah, looks like he might end up in a bad situation in it.

Thats the way the commercial made it look, I have a feeling he tries to go explore or fish, gets sucked out by the tide and won't be able to make it back to his camp, or maybe the producers are trying to throw us a curveball.

I think Sam goes next, but I really wouldn't be disappointed if it's Lucas that goes home.

No one tapped out. Did anybody notice the movie references by Alan?

Like I said before I only play at this while camping. Not criticizing but these men were put in an alien environment because the History channel isn't going to give away 500,000 dollars freely. I disagree that they are on they same level as Les Stroud and Cory Lundin or maybe Matt Graham. I could go on with others but I think these guys are everyday Joes that did not know what they were getting into, watching them fail is not entertainment for me.
