Hi everybody I'm far from a car enthusiast and I know my way around an engine just enough to get by I've been pushing a 2001 taco pre runner auto that I bought brand new and 14 years later!!! It's still running strong never had any engine/electrical failures no major work done 2 years ago I replaced my OG alternator and back in 2010 had a tranny/differential flush I keep up on my normal basic maintenance oil changes making sure all fluids are up to level etc. but I want to have her. Running as long as earthly possible so I can pass down. To my kids(I have no kids) but u get what I mean but here's the dilemma idk if I should have it checked out to see what work needs to be done at the dealership knowing I will have to surrender a good amount of change or trust a friend of mine who referred me to a independent auto shop mechanic with a good rep and there hopefully I can save just a lil more $ to we're I'm not fiddling around. With lint in my pockets but he's not a specialized toyota mechanic any advice to point me towards the right directions so she can continue to grace the pavement on earth she's the last of a dying breed I know there's more of us out there so any sound advice is well appreciated if. I left out any important car data that would be useful please let me know thanks Tacoma community!
